I was looking forward to adding a new XT2 to my other two XT cameras but ran into a problem today and was wondering if anyone else came across this…
It seemed like I had easily added the camera to my account through the iOS app but when I mounted it and tried to view the live camera to make angle adjustments, I kept getting “Live Video Failed” messages. It worked a couple of time but the video was static and otherwise staggered. I reset the batteries and rebooted the sync module and router. Same problem. Because all three of my cameras are mounted within a few feet of each other (different angles) I hadn’t though to look at signal strength. My two older cameras were both at 4 bars for WiFi and full bars for the sync module. The new XT2 camera was only at one red bar for the sync module but the same four bars for WiFi.
That’s odd. So I deleted the camera and then tried to set it up again, this time I set the camera within 1 inch of the sync module and had full bars for the connection. When I moved it only 1.5 feet away, it dropped down to three bars for the sync module.
Do I have a bad camera or module? Is it a software issue? When I first installed it I got message of a firmware update.
The two XT cameras have been solid for a year now.
