It’s one of the inherent problems with the Blink app. Like the battery low indicator, the wifi signal strength is kinda sort of accurate, but not really.
What happens over and over again is customers rely on that signal strength meter to mount their cameras as far away as possible from router and sync module. Far away = more detection coverage. The cameras work and customer is happy. Problem is, it only works some of the time and is not reliable. If you want reliable, repeatable operation, the install directions clearly state you need at least 3 bars of signal strength. Well if the wifi signal meter in the mobile app is not consistently accurate, your results may vary. Kinda sorta works and good enough for most customers.
However, if you are in a mission critical I need the cameras to be spot on accurate all the time…Spend more money! Blink is a friggin home owner entry level product. There are some days I swear these cameras should have a Fisher Price or Playskool logo on them.
