Bought this on impulse during Black Friday sale for $50 because it was favorably reviewed by someone I trusted. Wish I had done more research. Alerts AFTER recording event so must limit to 5 seconds if you want alerts as quick as possible, but 5 seconds may not be long enough to see what you need to see. Try switching to Live view and talk to person at door - NO you can’t do that if another event has triggered because there is still movement - camera is BUSY! Very disappointed and will not be buying anymore of these.

Or if I buy it from joe blow online 3rd party seller super duper black Friday deal, does Blink or Amazon honor return and warranty policy?

I would love to find solutions to these issues. Do solutions exist? I was assuming that Amazon would make me pay to send it back unless I claimed it was defective, but it appears that I can drop it at UPS and send back for free just because I don’t like it. I have until February 1st to decide. Maybe a programmer could take 5 minutes and move the alert to the start of the event routine instead of the end?

They did, enable early notification in settings.

Enable early notification isn’t available on my app for Blink XT cameras. Must be a XT-2 only thing. I updated my app already just to check this.

Correct, but the OP said he bought his camera on black Friday so I assume he has the XT2 since they don’t sell the XT anymore. Plus the XT didn’t have two way audio which the OP says his camera supports.

Yup I know. The info I reported is for XT only. It’s yet another indication that Blink is not adding app features for their original equipment. You want extra features, buy the new products.

Do they need to be reminded that there are lots of XT customers that bought early and often? We’re why there is an XT2.

No different than the world of other cheap build consumer electronics. Remember the life cycle of this stuff is short…say 3 years or so. The original indoor and XT hardware as well as old sync modules are at end of life. I fully expect to read soon about them failing left and right.

Cell phones, tablets, digital picture frames, gps, Chromebooks, cheap laptops, wifi smart devices, the list goes on and on. After 3 years, you’re on life support.

Yes, I now see the “beta” feature for Early Notifications and have enabled it. Unfortunately notifications can still be slow due to other factors than the clip length, but this appears to address my concerns and I am happier with the camera, especially since I only paid $50.
