While I understand the draw for 2 way audio, I haven’t really used any of my 2-way audio devices such as Skybell or Mobotix M25 (wired) POE cameras. For deliveries, by the time I open the Skybell app and get the live view going, the delivery person is already back in his/her vehicle driving off. Some of it is app latency, but some of it is just my speed in responding. I have only had 1 situation where I wanted to talk to someone outside in my driveway, and it’s the whole reason I got the Mobotix camera. Honestly, I would think a separate speaker for 2-way audio may be a possible solution especially for the hardware that’s already in consumers’ hands. I think offering 2-way audio in the camera itself would be a big draw for many potential customers; however, I think a separate speaker module (that has it’s own batteries) would be a great alternative. I definitely don’t want to see the price of the cameras increase, so if adding an internal speaker would increase the cost, I don’t think it’s the best solution at least for me personally.
Maybe I’m alone in this thinking, but if my house is empty (ie. no family members home), I rather keep the robber there as long as possible so the police have a chance to catch him/her. That’s assuming my house alarm didn’t scare them off to begin with.
