I’ve got the XT2s. I experimented with it, but I disabled it. It probably reduced the false alarms slightly, but it wasn’t major. And since I’m still trying to optimize things, I figured I’d rather KNOW when I have a false alarm so that I can continue to tweak things. (If I enable masking, I basically continue to get false alarms which drain the battery, but I don’t get notified about it, so I don’t know it’s happening.)
I guess it enables the camera for a slightly shorter amount of time than a normal recording, but it didn’t seem like it would save tons of battery, and as i said, I’d rather know that a camera is giving me tons of false alarms so that I can optimize my settings in ways that actually preserve the battery life.
