I am finding that hearing the speaker outdoors is almost useless unless you are a couple feet away from the camera. I had plans to add these outdoors not near an entry door for people snooping around my property (if they did), but speaking to them would be uselness because they would hear mumbling until they got a couple feet from the camera. Yes I have the volume set to as hight as it can go.
the speaker is not exactly loud. Definitely a limitation. I believe products like the ring floodlight have a louder output, but require a hardwire point.
*I misspoke, they do have a rechargeable “spot light cam”.
I agree about the volume problem. To make matters worse, I have a set of wind chimes hanging near by. It’s practically impossible to hear either way. I will consider moving the wind chimes when it is no longer 98 degrees outside!
I had a battery spotlight cam. It was very loud.
Folks, I wholeheartedly agree. I got these XT2s and the box has a pic of a dude with a package on a porch. I am telling you in that pic the distance that guy is from the camera he is not hearing anything. Outside you have to put your ear on the XT2 to hear it. Very sad I was thrilled when they came out. Now I am just sad. If you can hear it outside, it is only because you stole it and it is in your hand.
I totally agree and am as equally disappointed. Blink dropped the ball on this one. The highest speaker volume you can’t hear crap unless you are inches away. The speaker portion is worthless on the XT2’s. Also the time delay from triggering the camera, to when you can actually talk to some one is way too long.
Bought and installed my first Blink. The speaker hasn’t gotten any better in 2020. I will look for a solution to improve the speaker or replace the Blink system.
