As one who travels with my Blink cameras, I would dearly love to see a reliable ON / OFF switch on the cameras.
I set up cameras on my vehicle and in my hotel room when I travel. In order to save the battery life, I have to open each camera and REMOVE the batteries. When I am in the hotel room, the cameras remain ON even though they are deactivated. This is an unnecessary PITA and a waste of battery life.
BTW, airlines get VERY NERVOUS when they see an electronic device in luggage with a blinking light! It causes all kinds of problems!
I also presume that repeated and unnecessary removal of the rear cover will create water invasion issues and maybe those tiny plastic tabs will break off at some point. When the camera is mounted into some housing, it is even MORE trouble to power down idle cameras.
A simple switch that is designed so it cannot accidentally be turned on or off (by carrying it in luggage for example) would be a great improvement to the cameras.
Now, don’t put the switch on TOP, because birds like to land on cameras mounted to walls, and they could conceivably shut off a camera by pecking at the switch. Put the switch on the face. Perhaps a recessed push button switch? Maybe a BEEP / TWO BEEP option could tell the owner if the camera was powered ON or OFF.
I DO like my Blink cameras, and I look forward to their future improvements!
