Thanks guys for the responses.
Its just a basic goal. What use is a 24/7 surveillance system? My understanding is that it records everything and if you are not paying attention, you will miss everything.
With cameras that only records motion, you can see the main events from that day and tell a lot quicker if something is wrong. I already have Amazon’s Cloud Cam. It works great but they give you 1 day to look at the footage and save video. If you want more time you pay for it. So this is my basic understanding. Everyday my recordings are recorded over and the data from the previous day is lost based on how much activity is in the room. This is in my house, Aside from reduced sensitivity and blocking out zones, I’d assume an outside camera could potentially get lots of activity.
What do i want? I want to make sure when someone is in my yard, or there is a burglar, I can retrieve the recordings. Oftentimes you don’t notice anything for a day or two unless there is a break-in and you come home the same day. But if it is something minor like a lawn mower, it may take you days to notice it is missing. I think any reasonable person would want some flexibility in retrieving recordings from their cameras. What i certainly DO NOT WANT, is a burglar appears and the rest of the footage is lost. He is at the door for a few minutes, but only a few seconds or minutes are recorded and then the rest of the footage is lost.
I think that is what everyone wants. If i buy a camera, i don’t want games, i want reliable and accessible recordings. I may not be able ot delete out previous recordings and I don’t have time to babysit a camera everyday to make sure unnecessary recordings are removed.
I think what I’m expressing here is pretty reasonable. Sure this is obviously not the camera for a month’s worth of footage, but it certainly would be nice to have a few days of footage.
