The entire blink camera platform is built on an ultra low power consuming chipset made by Immedia Semiconductor. That chipset is the exact reason Amazon bought Blink. Amazon used it to develop other devices that Amazon sells. Those devices revolved around e-commerce and smart home gadgets. Remember, what Amazon # 1 thing is they do…sell stuff online.
Getting back to Blink and that ultra low power chipset. There are previous threads buried within this community forum that talk about lack of extended record time and retrigger time. Those basic ideas were:
Retrigger = cool down time for chipset when it is off.
Short clip length = chipset not overheat, battery life, free cloud storage.
If you had longer clip length AND ultra short or no retrigger time, you in essence would have a live view recording camera that could go 24/7 with external power. All you need is a built in memory card so limited free cloud storage is not a problem.
Well, to be honest, If Blink gave you those features, it would no longer be Blink. It would be Blink’s competing brand. But for the Blink price. Blink is the low cost leader for a reason. However, if Wyze ever gets a totally wireless camera it may be game over for Blink. .
