To your other point, though, email is real time and actionable, app notifications are not. They pop up when your phone is sitting in your pocket in a business meeting, and are gone by the time you look at it again… whereas an email will be there for you to see.
I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree on that. I am not looking at my phone 24/7, but I am checking my email 24/7.
As I tell employees and others… you grab me in the hallway to ask me something, I may or may not be able to answer right then and there, Hopefully I can! But if I don’t have an immediate answer, then you best email me. Because the truth is that 85 other people are going to ask me questions before I even get back to my office, and the ones who I have an email from will jog my memory, and I’ll actually be able to respond in a timely manner.
