Do Blink Staff still monitor this group

Just curious how engaging the staff are on this site recently . I know in the pre Amazon days @nick_at_blink and others were very active and responsive but at least the posts I have been reading I haven’t seen much for about 2 months. Being a WYZE user as well I hope it can get to that level again as I think the product really benefits from it. Just curious what others are experiencing. If it is just an after thought to staff it may make sense to spin us off into a Facebook group so we can just help each other and not have the hope/expectations that staff will engage.

I’ve been wondering this myself.

@Ashli_at_Blink started posting last month, which I thought meant that either they were adding another forum moderator or maybe she would be replacing @nick_at_blink. But she hasn’t posted anything in a while.

And speaking of @nick_at_blink, we haven’t heard much from him in a while either.

It could be they’re just super busy. We do a pretty good job of helping out on the forums so maybe they’re concentrating on the release of some new products. Some people on this forum think Blink is going away but I just don’t think so. Time will tell.

Normally the people who are facilitating a forum are not working on R and D. WYZE is a unique example of how to do it right which was definitely the way blink was going. This new long stretch of discounted prices has me concerned. I was very happy to see some software side improvements! Lots of folks don’t like them but I’m just happy they are working on something. Hopefully the beta programs return as well.

After a couple of days only 4 people weighed in so far before me. Those 4 are super users and beta testers.

The general public stayed quiet. Like me, existing customers have already made up their mind. Too little too late is the general consensus in my opinion.

I was very happy to see some software side improvements! Lots of folks don’t like them but I’m just happy they are working on something. Hopefully the beta programs return as well.

I wish they would release the instant notification that was functioning during the first doorbell beta. It even worked for my existing XT cameras, not just the beta doorbell (the one that was withdrawn in the Fall). That’s gotta be one of the most requested features here in the forum.

I guess being a kickstarter backer I/we were riding an awesome wave of promises and engagement. The early promises I’m sure they wish they weren’t so forward with as things change so quickly. But as others have said many times I have exactly the item I purchased and for me it does work as promised. I think I/we just need to lower our interaction expectations from Blink directly, which I’m fine with. I just guess I wish they would come right out an let us know that. Having now recently jumped into the WYZE universe seeing what it could have been I guess is what prompted me to think about us over here. They have multiple WYZE staff constantly interacting with the good and the bad. They also have vetted moderators with direct lines of communication to WYZE staff. The community is getting answers quickly and they transparently own the missteps. …sigh

The almost constant sales, and almost no contributions to the forum are worrying to me too. Hopefully they will keep the servers up and running, for a reasonable time, even if the brand is finished. It would no longer represent good value if they pull the plug entirely in relatively short order.

I agree, Blink isn’t going away but some of their talent maybe diverted to other ‘Amazon like’ product development.
Maybe we will see Blink/ring product…call it Bling…just kidding.

Looks like with the lack of repsonse from those 2 who were tagged 2 days ago and no responses from other tagged posts for them and other Blink members the conclusion maybe that those people are either gone, aren’t active and/or no one from Blink is moderating the forums anymore…

Is Blink done for? I mean I saw them posting commercial clips on Youtube a couple of weeks ago but other than a couple of sales (which the last one seemed more like an inventory sale off or last ditch effort to find new customers) I am starting to think we could be seeing the last days, weeks, or months of Blink retail and support…

Has anyone called tech support for anything?

They also used to advertise their sales here in the forum, which they don’t anymore.

Just now I got an email that touts “up to 40% off.” This all has a liquidation-esque feel to it.

One can only hope they intend to keep the cloud servers functional for a while if they’re really trying to dump their inventory. Otherwise that’d be quite a bait and switch…

I hope the sell off is because of a new product launch, though you’d think they’d have posted something on their site about that by now. Fingers crossed though, as we love these cameras.

Anyway up here in Canada, Amazon is sold out of all Blink XT cameras. You can’t even search for them on Amazon.ca, the only way to know they exist is through Blink’s website. When I click on those links we get " Currently unavailable.
We don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock."

There appears to only be limited stock of the indoor cameras, as well.

How is availability of competition brands in Canada? Ring, Nest, Arlo, etc.

The replaceable AA Lithium batteries were my deciding factor in going with Blink prior to the Amazon acquisition.

We were hoping to add 3+ XT cameras to our current system, but I guess that’s now in a holding pattern.

Assuming you want new and not preowned can’t you buy them on Ebay? Ebay with the .CA version is Canada Ebay. There are a bunch of new Blink camera sellers in USA on Ebay. Problem is these camera are region locked. Sooooo, for it to work in Canada, you have to buy it from Canada I believe.
