Anytime you change a setting for a camera make sure to go bottom if the app page for that camera and hit update camera. This pushes your changes to the camera. It will auto update but this way is better. Have you every clicked on a camera and got the system busy error? When that happens the system is auto updating.
I had the same issue and felt really dumb when I found out what it was. At the very bottom of your app, you’ll see it says UNARMED. Tap the little white dot to the right of that and it will turn blue behind it and change to ARMED. It is defaulted to UNARMED for some reason and they don’t tell you to arm it in instructions so I was stuck on that as well.
Thanks! I feel dumb, too, but also grateful
I’m experiencing a very similar issue. Unfortunately my “Armed” option IS set and I set the sensitivity to high. I don’t know what to do at this point. It’s a brand new camera.
Same here. Mine worked for a couple months then suddenly stopped. Everything is set, armed, etc. I’ve tried rebooting my router, the sync module…nothing works. I’m at a loss.
@Netbratz is it a single camera or your whole system?
@Austin_Cox So far, 2 of the cameras. Front door and back yard. I have 3 setup.
This just started a couple days ago.
Have you tried generating motion clips intentionally?
When is the last time you changed batteries? Sometimes they become low with out setting off the alert, especially when it heats up or freezes outside.
@Austin_Cox I can use live view, it just won’t detect motion. I was going to try batteries today, thinking maybe they’re too low. I know the front door gets a lot of usage so I didn’t expect the batteries to last (but I did think they would go longer than 3 months lol), I’m surprised about the back though possibly being battery.
It’s always an option.
At the very least, take the batteries out for a minute and then put them back in. That will reset the camera.
Power cycling the camera and sync module usually fixes all my issues.
@Austin_Cox Thanks! I’ll let you know how it goes. Keep your fingers crossed
@Austin_Cox It was the batteries! The ap said they were OK, now I know better. Thanks again!!
I am having the same problem. Just started out of the blue the other day. Which is conveniently when it looks like Blink last updated the app. I am thinking there is a compatability issue with the app after they updated it for the XT2 and added the ring community stuff. I have the 3 camera set up . It has worked perfectly for almost 3 months since I purchased it. But now only 1 of my 3 camera will trigger on motion. The other 2 will not trigger and I have tried cranking the sensitivity to max, the batteries are good and both camera work when I go into live view . Would be nice if Blink would agknowledge the issue with the latest app update and let consumers know when to expect a fix because I did not purchase this system to have my home unprotected.
If you read on another thread, @Bob_at_Blink made a post acknowledging the issues.
Reset your sync module, reboot your router, and lower your video quality. That seems to band aid the issue in the mean time.
I have reset sync module and my router multiple times and I have had my sensitivity settings all over up and down the board in an attempt to make hints work and still no go. The only thing I have not yet tried doing is deleting the cameras from my system and reinstalling but climbing up to each of my cameras to grab the serial/qr is a real hassle.
Note that @Austin_Cox said lower your video quality, not sensitivity. For some reason, people that have run into some issues since the most recent app update have found this to be an effective workaround. It might be worth trying in your case, too.
Thanks Mark , I missed that he said to lower video quality. However that has not fixed the issue either. One camera was already at the lowest setting and another was at the highest. I have since tried raising and lowering each to each of the 3 quality settings. As well as rebooting my router multiple times aswell as power cycling the blink module. Still motor working. Hopefully they get an app update pushed out quickly and it fixes whatever is going on.
I’m having the same issue and blink just replaced the camera saying it’s a hardware issue and RMAs a camera to you. I just replaced my RMA camera and same thing again. Movement and motion and no recording. The system is failing.
