As a company Blink (and in turn Amazon) made a decision to dis-enfranchise me, along with I suspect a significant number of additional customers, by refusing to honor the commitment made when I purchased three of cameras (in one case just six months ago) that I could access and control them from my phone which uses the Android 4.4.4 OS.
The reply I received when I protested this development is totally unacceptable.

Thank you for the information. I am sorry to be the bearer of this news. I’d like to let you know that a newer software is needed for our application and future updates. In order to take advantage of new features and technologies around areas of stability and security that these updated operating systems provide, we are focusing on more recent versions of Android and iOS.

The only option apparently left open to me based on your decision to no longer recognize and support my Android system is to purchase a new mobile phone. This is something that I will not do because the phone that I have provides all the functionality I require and the cost of a new model will be more than the investment I made in the three Blink cameras. I understand the need to update software but even Microsoft does not render PCs inoperable when they issue a new or updated OS. The older systems continue to work even if not updated to the latest OS, although perhaps without some of the new features and functionality. This is the model I think Blink should follow and I can’t understand why you don’t.
Unless I hear a different response from you regarding a refund offer, I will be forced to privately sell my cameras and wireless network link. I am not sure of what market I will find but I am sure that I will find willing buyers. After taking that step, I will make it my mission to notify as many others as possible about what’s happened to me and caution all to take what you have done to me into consideration before making a purchase decision regarding Blink systems.
