In reading this thread and others it seems clear there is some sort of behavior with the new XT cameras that results in fast battery drain. Battery life was the one deciding factor I had for choosing Blink over Arlo. But given the performance of the XT, now I have to decide between the Blink (indoor) and the Arlo - but my application is outdoor.
Because an outdoor camera has to be mounted up high where it can’t be easily reached, then a long lasting battery life is paramount. Having the battery go out randomly means your security is down until you notice its not sending you notifications any more. And the hassle and risk of going out on a ladder every 2 months to change batteries is a hassle. These two combined is real show stopper for me.
@Blink, I feel like you should acknowledge there is a battery life issue with the XT cameras. In similar use cases, does Blink really find that XT battery life is on par with the non-XT devices?
I’m hoping this is some sort of software bug or a hardware issue that can be resolved with next generation camera. As it stands now, with a equal battery life I’m really finding it hard to justify Blink over Arlo.
